With the 2008-09 athletics season already underway, athletic director Steve Joyner, Sr. leadership and vision for the athletics department is to engage the community. Joyner is furthering one of the department's objectives which is to give service to the community and individuals in need. To that end, JCSU has partnered with the Stratford Richardson YMCA for a Y-BULLS program as well as Habitat Charlotte to do just that. The women's basketball team kicked off this exciting partnership by hosting a clinic at the Stratford Richardson YMCA last Saturday.
Both the basketball teams were the first to help in the building of the Habitat Charlotte house on Saturday, September 27. The football team followed suit in shifts on Monday (Sep. 29) while each of the sporting teams will also assist in this month-long project. The house should be complete near the end of October.
