Giving back to the local Charlotte community

Charlotte, NC - The Johnson C. Smith University men and women's basketball teams, along with head coaches #Stephen Joyner, Sr. and Vanessa Taylor#, took a minute out of their hectic schedules to give back to the local community by volunteering during the Loaves & Fishes Annual Food Drive.

The event ran February 6-14, 2010 with eight drop off locations in the Charlotte area. The Boy Scouts of America also helped during the kickoff of the food drive by picking up non-perishable items that people had left outside their homes.

“This is a gratifying experience for both basketball programs, any opportunity where we can invest our time into the community that has invested so much

JCSU men's team worked with site coordinators at the Mulberry Presbyterian Church and the women's team provided assistance at the Town Center Plaza location. Click here to view photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jcsuprdept/sets/72157623315043015/show/
