FIVE LADY GOLDEN BULLS MAKE THE 2010 USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC TRACK & FIELD TEAM

276 Earn All-Academic Status

New Orleans, LA – Five Johnson C. Smith University female track and field student-athletes were amongst a record total of 276 announced on the women's 2010 Division II All-Academic Track & Field team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The 276 student-athletes represent 72 institutions composed within the group. Slippery Rock, Shippensburg, and Grand Valley State led the way with 12 representatives on the All-Academic Team apiece.

The Lady Golden Bulls that earned All-Academic status are: graduate Nikki Boston (Vidalia, GA), junior Rosemarie Carty (St. Andrew, Jamaica), junior Monique Kelly (St. Andrew, Jamaica), sophomore Xahnn-Georgia Reid (Clarendon, Jamaica), and senior Shermaine Williams (St. Andrew, Jamaica).

National champions Steph Tinney (Ashland), Abby Kacsandi (Ashland), Anja Puc (Neb.-Omaha), Katrina Biermann (Truman State), Michelle Cumberbatch (Lincoln (Mo.)), Racquel Anderson (Lincoln (Mo.)), Alicia Nelson (Adams State), Nelly Spence (Shippensburg), Shermaine Williams (Johnson C. Smith), and Jacqui Barrett (UMass Lowell) joined those who won Scholar Athlete of the Year honors as All-Academic honorees.

Sixteen All-Academic honorees were reported to have cumulative GPAs of 4.0 and above.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.

Those institutions given All-Academic Team status will be named on Monday, August 2
(men) and Tuesday, August 3 (women).
