Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women’s volleyball team lost to Queens University of Charlotte 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-11) Friday afternoon at the Queens Double B Graphix Invitational on Queen University’s campus. The Lady Golden Bulls opened their season against Queens in the tournament, but will look to bounce back on day two versus Belmont Abbey and Virginia Union.
Strong offensive attack from Keri Kemp and Ashley Williams led the way to the victory as the Lady Royals’ duo tallied nine and seven kills, respectively. Sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Williams (Mitchellville, MD) had a team-high seven digs followed by sophomore setter Alexis Webb (Durham, NC) and freshman libero Vernisha Silver (Rocky Mount, NC) with five digs apiece.
Redshirt freshman Sabrina Johnson (Columbia, SC) had a team-high in kills and blocks with two solo blocks and two kills.
Johnson C. Smith will wrap up their weekend action on Saturday with two matches, facing Belmont Abbey College at 10:00 am followed by conference foe Virginia Union University at 2:00pm.
