Trevin Parks is 18 points away from reaching 1,000 points scored at JCSU

Trevin Parks is 18 points away from scoring his 1,000th career point. He is averaging 24 points per game this season, leading into the matchup with Fayetteville State University on Saturday, January 30th inside Brayboy Gymnasium.
Parks, a native of Hickory, NC, will add another impressive achievement to an already accomplished season. His scoring average currently has him ranked fourth in the nation (NCAA DII) for points per game. After 17 games, Parks has scored double figures in every contest with a 410-point total. Parks led the nation in scoring with a 26.5 ppg average leading into the first week of 2012.
He eclipsed his career-high of 36 points with a 39-point performance in a 78-68 win over Quincy University during their Subway/Holiday Tournament on December 30th. During the tournament, Parks was named MVP and set new records for most points in a game, most points in the overall tournament, most three-pointers made, and most three-pointers made in the overall tournament.
Parks' averages lead the CIAA in points (24.1), minutes played (36.7), three-pointers made (2.9), and free throws made (5.9). He is also second in the conference with a .856 free throw shooting percentage and fourth in assists, averaging 4.1 dimes per game. Parks is the reigning CIAA Player of the Week, his fourth selection this year.
When asked about the upcoming marker; Parks replied, “I'm very blessed to be in this position.”
“I try to do whatever is necessary for my team to be successful and scoring has been one of those things I've had to do for the past two seasons. This is a great individual accomplishment, but it's ultimately a team award. Without my teammates and God, I know none of this would be possible.”
The least amount of the points scored by Parks this season is 11 on the road against Bowie State. If he reaches his scoring average, Parks will be the 25th Golden Bull to score 1,000 or more points in his career.
Tip-off against the Fayetteville State Broncos is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
