Jordan Mosely will compete for a center roster spot with the New York Giants at their rookie mini-camp on May 11-14
Charlotte, NC – Former Johnson C. Smith University offensive lineman
Jordan Mosely (Columbia, SC) has accepted an invitation to the New York Giants rookie mini-camp tryouts held May 11-13, 2013 at the team's practice facility in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Mosely will be competing for a roster spot at the center position.
Mosely is a 6'3, 305 pound, offensive lineman majoring in Sport Management. He started all 11 games for the Golden Bulls football program at the left tackle position his junior season in 2011 and then moved to left guard his senior season to start all 10 games in 2012. Behind the protection of Mosely, the JCSU offense has totaled nearly 3,900 yards both seasons and had their first 1,000-yard rusher since 1991 this past season.
Leading up to this year's NFL Draft, Mosely had an impressive showing on March 17th at NFL Regional Combine in Atlanta along with a strong performance again on April 7-8th in Dallas at the Super Regional Combine.
“I'm really excited to have this opportunity to be in the NFL, this is a dream I've had since I was seven years old,” said Mosely. “This is a surreal feeling, but not a surprise; when you combine hard work and God's favor, opportunities like these arise. I want to thank everyone who's been praying for me and I ask that they continue to keep me in their prayers.”
The Giants made the following seven selections during the 2013 NFL Draft: Justin Pugh (1st round, Offensive Tackle – Syracuse), Johnathan Hankins (2nd round, Defensive Tackle – Ohio State), Damontre Moore (3rd round, Defensive End – Texas A&M), Ryan Nassib (4th round, Quarterback – Syracuse), Cooper Taylor (5th round, Safety – Georgia Tech), Eric Herman (7th round, Offensive Guard – Ohio), and Michael Cox (7th round, Running Back – UMass).
Mosely will be contending with two NFL veterans currently on the Giants' roster at the center position, along with any other invited free agents. Nine-year veteran David Baas (Michigan) and three-year veteran Jim Cordle (Ohio State) are the two centers on the active roster.
