Johanan Edmeade shot a 78 in the second round of play with a two-round total of 165 (+21) at the CIAA Championships
Petersburg, VA – The Johnson C. Smith University golf team placed fourth out of six competing squads at the 2014 CIAA Golf Championships with a two-day score of 679 (348-331) at Dogwood Trace on Friday, April 18th. The tournament was played on a par 72, 6,558-yard course.
Virginia State University took home their second straight CIAA Championship title with a team score of 295 on the second day of play, and a two-day total of 601. After scoring a 322 on the first day of play, Chowan combined to shoot 318 on the second day to secure a second place finish. Fayetteville State finished in third place with a two-day total of 650, while Johnson C. Smith, Livingstone, and Virginia Union took home fourth, fifth, and sixth place finishes respectively.

Calvin Mason (Suffolk, VA) finished 11th individually, shooting a two-day total of 160 (82-78). Mason had a team-low 78, which shaved four strokes off his first round score. Fellow junior
Johanan Edmeade (Virgin Island, U.S.) shot a 78 in the second round of play with a two-round total of 165 (+21). Edmeade finished tied for 15th in a field of 34 players.

Brencis Stanford (Greenwood, SC) completed the event tied for 20th place individually after carding an 85 in the second round for a 168 total. Sophomore Steven Graddick shot a 96 on day one and a 90 on day two for a 186 total to round out the scoring for JCSU.
The Golden Bulls continue to make strides in the CIAA Championship Tournament. The team finished in sixth place in 2013 and did not finish with a team score in the 2012 tournament. The team placed ninth in 2011, eighth in 2010, and sixth in 2009.
