Inclement weather causes poor field conditions

Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University football program has decided to reschedule their annual inter-squad Gold and Blue Spring Game to Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Inclement weather has caused poor field conditions and prohibits play on the originally scheduled April 7th date. The approximately 75-play scrimmage will still take place on Eddie C. McGirt Field inside the Irwin Belk Complex on the campus of JCSU. Kickoff will remain at 7:00 p.m.

Admission is FREE and open to the public. Parking for the game is also FREE on a first come, first served basis beginning at 5:00 p.m.

A scoring system has been developed to determine the progress of both sides during the scrimmage, which will go as follows:

• Offensive/Defensive Touchdown = 6 points
• Offensive 4th Down conversion = 3 points
• Defensive 4th Down stops = 3 points
• Defensive Interceptions = 3 points
• Sack = 2 points
• Pass of 20-yard or more / Run of 15-yard or more = 1 point
• Fumble / Tackle for a Loss = 1 point

The Golden Bulls will kick off their season in a highly anticipated match-up against the Division I 49ers of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The game will be played at Jerry Richardson Stadium, home field of UNCC and is scheduled for Saturday, September 6th at 12 noon.
