The Johnson C. Smith University Athletics Department released the 2008 Golden Bull football schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The 10-game slate is highlighted by the addition of Chowan University and one championship subdivision opponent in North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

The Golden Bulls will play a full complement of Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) games with only three non-conference opponents gracing the schedule in championship subdivision opponent NC A&T State University (8/30), Edward Waters College (9/13), and first time opponent Chowan University (10/25).

The 2008 season begins on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at North Carolina A&T in Aggie Stadium. This is the first time the two schools have met since 1993. Following the A&T game, JCSU will travel to Petersburg, Virginia to take on Virginia State University in a non-conference match-up. JCSU will host their home-opener against Edward Waters College at the Irwin Belk Complex on September 13.

JCSU will play seven CIAA contests highlighted by the addition of new conference opponent Chowan University. Johnson C. Smith will travel to Virginia Union on September 20 and then to Saint Paul's on September 27. Western division opponents Livingstone and Saint Augustine's will make their way to the queen city on October 4 and 11 respectively. JCSU will then travel to Fayetteville, North Carolina for their final road game at Fayetteville State on October 18.

Johnson C. Smith will play their final two games at home starting with new opponent Chowan University on October 25 for Homecoming 2008. Rounding out the home and regular season schedule will be the defending CIAA champion Bears of Shaw University on November 1.
