Johnson C. Smith University sophomore Lawyer Montgomery (Buffalo, N.Y.) has been named CIAA Defensive Back of the Week as selected by the CIAA Sports Information Directors Association. Montgomery led all defenders with 12 total tackles (7 solo, 5 assisted), had one interception returned for seven yards and had one pass break-up vs. Division I opponent North Carolina A&T State University.

The Golden Bulls will hit the road to take on Virginia State University in a non-conference match-up on Saturday, September 6. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Rogers Stadium on the campus of Virginia State.
