Catawba Squeezes by J.C. Smith, 6-3

Final Stats

Salisbury, N.C. - Johnson C. Smith University won two of six singles and one of three doubles in their opening match of the 2007-08 season. However, the wins were not enough as the Golden Bulls fell to Catawba College, 6-3 in Salisbury, N.C. Jason Stuckey and Romar Douglas won 8-2 at the number one doubles spot over Sean Soltan and Bryce Cockerham.

The Golden Bulls lost at number two doubles with Tom McCormack and Dana Pallesen over Aaron Hutcherson and Jamil Jones 8-6 and at number three doubles with Cyle Petersen and Hector Bonsoulas over Andrew Anglin and George Dixon by an 8-6 count.

However, the Golden Bulls could garner only two more singles, Stuckey over Cockerham 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 at number two and Jones 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 over Peterson at number four.

The Golden Bulls also got a tough match from Hutcherson who lost 7-5, 7-5 to Bonsoulas.

The loss drops JCSU to 0-1 on the season.
