Women's VolleyballLivingstone Rallies to Beat JCSU in Volleyball, 3-2

The Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears (9-4, 3-4CIAA, 1-1DIV) rallied to defeat the Johnson C. Smith Lady Golden Bulls (4-13, 2-7CIAA, 0-4DIV) 3-2 in volleyball action. The Lady Blue Bears started off winning game one 30-28. Smith battled to win games two and three, 30-25 and 30-28. After a rather controversial second game, the Blue Bears took the game to heart and won games four and five 30-24 and 15-12. This was an exciting match from start to finish. The freshman duo of Ashley Young Jones and Jasmine Oliver combined for a career high 44 kills. Young-Jones had 24 while Oliver had 20. Chelsea Revis and Anika Pimentel split setting duties registering 33 and 22 respectively. Young-Jones had 17 digs and three solo blocks in the tough loss. For the victorious Lady Blue Bears, Davia Moss had a match high 30 kills, 13 digs, and three blocks. Shannon Allen contributed 23 assists in the victory. Smith moves on to face Spelman College in a home match on Thursday, September 27, 2007. Game time is at 6:00 p.m. |
