The Lady Golden Bulls are 8-4 after the conference season opener
Charlotte, NC – The Johnson C. Smith University women's bowling team placed second in the season opening CIAA Western Divisional Meet hosted by JCSU at the AMF University Lanes on November 13-15th. The Lady Golden Bulls finished with a total pin count of 8243, just behind Fayetteville State with 9621.
Senior captain Nijah Braddox averaged 173 in the two-day team matches, including a 225 game. Junior Sasha Thornhill (Lynchburg, VA) rolled a season-high 210 and posted 163.9 scoring average in team play.
JCSU had 5850 team match total pins and 3579 baker match total pins. The Lady Golden Bulls were 5-3 in team matches, 3-1 in baker match for an 8-4 overall record. Fayetteville State was unbeaten in team matches and baker play.
Shaw was third with 7534 total pins, Chowan fourth with 6702, Livingstone fifth with 6500, and Shaw had a score of 0 due to a lack of a full roster (only four bowlers).
Johnson C. Smith will return to the lanes for the second CIAA Western Divisional Meet in Salisbury, NC January 15-17, 2010.
